Sponsored content policy

What we will and will not accept from a sponsor, and how sponsored work is labelled.

We accept sponsorship. We do not accept conditions on what we publish. This page sets out the difference.

Labelling

Sponsored work carries a Sponsored label in the byline area and at the top of the page. It is never labelled only in a footer, never labelled as "partner content" in a way designed to be missed, and never styled to be indistinguishable from editorial.

What a sponsor gets

  • Association with a clearly labelled piece of work.
  • Factual accuracy about their product, which we will check with them.
  • A named audience and honest reporting on how the work performed.

What a sponsor never gets

  • Approval over editorial copy, headlines or conclusions.
  • A recommendation, a ranking, a rating or a review.
  • Removal or suppression of unfavourable coverage, on that page or anywhere else.
  • Any influence over unrelated editorial work.

What we decline

We decline sponsorship of entry-requirement, safety and cost verification pages. Those pages exist to be trusted on facts that affect whether a reader can travel at all, and a commercial interest in them is not a risk worth taking at any price.
