About Wander.africa
An independent trip-planning publication for Africa, funded by readers and affiliate commissions rather than by operators.
Last updated
Wander.africa answers the practical questions that decide whether a trip happens: when to go, what it costs, where to stay, what the entry rules are, and whether the connection you are relying on actually works.
Why this exists
Search results for African travel are dominated by four kinds of page. Tour operators, who cannot recommend anything but their own inventory. Aggregators, who publish undated figures at continental scale. One-visit blogs. And programmatic content that names places that do not exist. None of them publish a dated, sourced answer you can act on.
We do one thing instead: we publish a verified, dated, sourced answer to a real planning question, and we show our working.
What we will not do
- We do not claim experience we have not had. Accommodation entries carry an explicit provenance label so you can see whether a recommendation comes from editorial research, a first-hand stay, reader reports or platform data.
- We do not sell coverage. No operator, lodge, airline or tourism board can buy a recommendation, a ranking or a review.
- We do not publish a price, a fee or an entry rule without a currency, a date and a source.
Who writes this
Articles are published under the Wander Desk byline while the masthead is being built out. As named editors and contributors join, their profiles and the articles they are responsible for will be listed on this site. We would rather show one honest byline than invent a masthead.
Where we are
Wander.africa is edited from Nairobi, Kenya, and reports across the continent.
