Morocco's entry answer depends on more than a destination name. The official Access Maroc portal tests nationality and passport type and can ask for further eligibility details. Use that result before relying on an airline summary or a commercial eVisa site.
This article does not reproduce a nationality list. Lists change, and an online article cannot test residence permits or passport types for the reader. The safe output is a dated result from Morocco's own system.
Check 1: choose the passport you will carry
Enter the nationality printed on the travel document that will be shown at check-in and at the Moroccan border. If you hold two passports, test the one you intend to use from departure through arrival.
Passport type matters. An ordinary passport can have different treatment from a diplomatic, official, refugee or emergency document. Do not choose a category because it produces the simpler answer.
Record the passport number and expiry. A booking made under another name or document creates a mismatch that should be resolved before application.
Check 2: use Access Maroc, not a lookalike service
The government portal is acces-maroc.ma. Its page describes services for visas, eVisas, event eVisas and access authorisations. It begins the eligibility check with nationality and passport type.
Check the domain before entering personal data. A commercial site can charge for assistance without being the issuing authority. It cannot change the official eligibility result.
Save the result page or reference with the date. If the portal directs you to a consular process rather than an eVisa, follow that branch instead of searching for a vendor willing to sell an electronic application.
Check 3: answer residence questions precisely
Eligibility for an electronic route can depend on lawful residence or an existing visa from another jurisdiction. The portal's questions, not a travel blog's simplified list, determine whether that factor applies.
Use the residence document that will still be valid for the trip. Check any minimum remaining validity shown by the portal. A residence card expiring before departure cannot support an application merely because it was valid when the holiday was planned.
Residence and nationality remain separate. Enter both accurately rather than substituting the country where you live for the passport you hold.
Check 4: match the permission to the purpose
Tourism, business, study, work and an event are different purposes. Select the route that describes what you will do, not the route with the fastest form.
An eVisa for an eligible short visit does not grant employment rights. If the trip includes paid work, production, research or a long assignment, consult the Moroccan consular service for the correct category.
Keep invitations and accommodation evidence consistent with the declared purpose. If the purpose changes after approval, ask the authority whether a new application is needed.
Check 5: inspect the consular branch
When Access Maroc does not offer an electronic route, use the Kingdom of Morocco's consular service and the mission responsible for your residence.
Confirm the application form, photographs, passport validity, supporting documents, fee, payment method and appointment procedure with that mission. Consular procedures can differ by location even when the visa category is the same.
Do not book inside an assumed processing window. Ask the mission for current guidance and leave room for document corrections and passport return.
Check 6: map every entry in the itinerary
A return after visiting another country may require permission for another entry. Read the number of entries and validity dates on the issued document.
Connections can also matter. If separate tickets require baggage collection and a new check-in, research the transit country's entry rule. Morocco's permission answers only the Moroccan border.
Keep the first accommodation address and onward or return evidence accessible. A border officer may ask about the route even when advance permission was granted.
Check 7: read the approval rather than the email subject
When an electronic approval arrives, compare the name, passport number, validity, entries and conditions with the trip. Payment confirmation or an application reference is not the issued permission.
Download the document for offline use and print it if the instructions ask for a paper copy. Contact the issuing service about an error. Do not edit the file yourself.
If you renew the passport after approval, ask whether the authorisation remains usable. The new document number will not match automatically.
Check 8: run a final official check
Repeat the Access Maroc test shortly before departure. Review any health, customs and child-travel requirements separately with the responsible authorities.
For a child, run the passport eligibility check independently and confirm consent or relationship documents required by the departure country and airline. A parent's visa status does not automatically answer the child's case.
Keep the dated source result with the border file. If airline staff see a different rule in their system, the official result gives them something specific to escalate.
What to keep in the border file
Carry the passport used in the check, issued visa or authorisation, accommodation details, onward or return evidence and any supporting document named in the approval. Keep copies away from the originals.
The most useful Morocco entry guide is the one produced by entering your real facts into the official portal. Run that check before a restrictive booking and again before travel.
